it started with a chair, a book, and a cup of tea that always seemed to go cold before the chapter ended.

i’ve always found that the best parts of the day happen in the quiet. the moments where you aren't "doing" anything, just thinking, reading, or breathing. marginnotes was born out of a desire to protect those moments. we make tea that’s meant to be sipped slowly while you’re lost in a story.

to be honest, the world doesn’t really need another tea company. but it does need more businesses that care about something other than the bottom line.

we decided early on that if we were going to do this, we were going to do it differently. we are a proud member of 1% for the planet—focusing on donations that impact things like clean water and environmental justice. we call it "business in the margins." it’s our way of making sure that while you’re taking care of your own mind, you’re also helping take care of the world we all share.

how we work
we don’t do "hustle." we don't do hype. we just source really good tea from people we trust, blend it with intention, and try to leave things a little better than we found them.

it’s a slow process, but we think the best things usually are.
